Koshi Tappu Wild Life Reserve

Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is located in Saptari and Sunsari districs in eastern Nepal which was stablished to preserve the habitat of the remaining population of wild buffalo, Arna in Nepal. In recent days it became a land of bird wathchers' because this reserve is home of more than 300 of different species of birds. Some of them migrate from Siberia during the winter.

Day 01: Arrival and reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Night in hotel.

Day 02: Sight Seeing Kathmandu Durbar square, Swayambhunath and Patan. Night in hotel.

Day 03: Arrival at Biratnagar airport. Reception and drive to Camp about one and a half hour. On the way to camp many interesting things can be obeserved. The naturalist guide briefs on the facilities of the camp and its activities.

Day 04: The day always start with an early morning wake up call, which is the best time to see birds. Bird watching on first light for the early walkers. In the camp premises and marshlands can be very rewarding to observe the shy species like Cracks and Bitterns. The highly nocturnal Fishing cat which hunts in our camp ponds can sometimes be seen at dawn and dusk and one has to be very silent to approach the ponds. Breakfast and full day bird watching walk inside the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve with pack lunch. The area between the Camp and Kusaha ( Park Headquarter) is the best area for birds and wildlife. The thin Indian Rosewood forest provide excellent habitat for Warblers,. Flycatchers, Oriole, Bush Warblers, Raptors and a large varieties of Wader, Bush Warblers. Returning to the camp by late afternoon for a cup of tea/coffee or a bottle of chilled beer! Dinner and at last briefing for the next days program.

Day 05: In the morning bird watching around the camp premised before breakfast and departure for Biratnagar airport, 2 hours before check-in time. Arrival in Kathmandu. Night in hotel.

Day 06: Transfer to Airport in advance of 2 ½ hours of your flight.
