Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return. - Leonardo Da Vinci

We look For:
For everyone that has enjoyed a tandem flight with us, learned to fly under our instructors, or even just shared a cold beer at the landing while swapping stories, there is one thing we hear consistently: "You have the best job in the world." We don't take this comment lightly, and even after hearing it a thousand times it is a nice reminder of how privileged we are to be able to make our passion our profession. It speaks a lot for our team for this passion to still remain after all these years. In fact, it grows with almost every flight. Nothing compares to the feeling of soaring freely with the birds over one of the most picturesque landscapes on earth, and with each joyful shout from a passenger that leaves the ground for the first time, or a student that has made their first successful landing, our passion is recharged. We are the first paragliding company in Nepal, and with over 15 years of experience our knowledge of the local flying conditions is unmatched. Paragliding, like everything in life, is constantly evolving, and we are committed to guiding the growth of it here in Nepal in the most professional, safe, and enjoyable way possible. We take our title as "The Paragliding Pioneers of Nepal" very seriously, and are constantly searching for new flying routes, sites, and ways to improve to ensure the adventuresome spirit that gave birth to this sport is alive and well for years to come. If you, like us and so many more, have dreamed of flying since childhood, let us help you make your dream come true.

Sincerely,
The Holiday Himalaya Family

We offer a ten day tour that is geared for those pilots wanting to experience flying around the Pokhara valley with local guides that know the local conditions and flying sites inside and out. It is possible to come and fly in Pokhara as a solo pilot, but with the guidance of our pilots and the special package we offer you gain a unique cultural experience on top of the feeling of flying with a team that want to ensure you make the most of each thermal.

The weather conditions unique to the Pokhara valley make for unbeatable flying during the time of year we offer tours, and at our basic level of required experience, anyone from 25+ hours up to an experienced pilot will be able to take full advantage of what this tour has to offer.

The tour begins in Kathmandu, where a representative from Sunrise Paragliding will meet you, and take you to your hotel for a basic debriefing. Depending on when your flight arrives, you may have the evening to explore the tourist hub of Thamel, or some more historical sites nearby. The following day you will take a bus to Pokhara, and this ride allows some incredible views of rivers, valleys, villages, and serves as a great introduction to Nepal away from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. After arriving in Pokhara, you will have time to unpack and get settled in your hotel before meeting our Tours Team of pilots that evening.

The next three days will be dedicated to flying from some of the more popular sites in the area. This will allow you to get a feel for local conditions, as well as some stunning views of the Annapurna range. You will fly from at least three different sites in this time, and each night arrive back to Lakeside to celebrate another beautiful day in the sky and share your experiences from the day with other members of the tour or our Team pilots to gain advice, or simply have a laugh.

After this three day introduction to flying around some of the more popular sites in the Pokhara valley, we will gear up for a more remote and unique experience at a site called Sirkot. Sirkot is located about 60km away from Pokhara (3 hour drive) and take-off it at 1450 m. The village itself is a traditional Gurung village, and far removed from any hints of “city life”. This is a perfect example of the “real Nepal” so many people hope to see when travelling here. There aren’t many places like it left in this ever-developing world, and to see such a simplified version of life first hand is something that will stay with you forever. Not to mention, the flying from this site is as good as the hospitality. We will carry with us tents, food, sleeping bags, etc. with the help of local porters. The plan is to stay here for three nights, flying over villages seemingly untouched by time during the day while improving your skills, and sitting around a campfire sharing stories by night. On the fourth day, weather permitting, we will fly as a group 35km back to Lakeside.

This flight from Sirkot to Lakeside serves is a great introduction to the cross-country flights we will be focusing on the remainder of the trip. After returning to Pokhara, the final days of the tour will be spent exploring the amazing cross-country potential around the Pokhara Valley, starting from the sites we will have shown you your first days here. After your final days of flying with us, we provide you with a bus ticket back to Kathmandu. If you are planning on staying longer to continue flying some of these incredible sites, we can work to help accommodate your plans. If you have any other questions, please feel free to email them via our "Contact Us" section of the site.
